We would urge all Blue Mountains and Lithgow residents to support an hourly train service to Lithgow.Show your support by writing to local MPs Roza Sage and Paul Toole.

Thankyou to the wonderful staff, volunteers and community from BANC and the Upper Mountains in particular who supported this research and assisted with the Mind the Gap report.

The time to act on this issue is now!

I agree with all Michael says. We are somewhat stranded in Blackheath in the middle of the day and the poor folks of Lithgow do not as many trains as us.

An improved Katoomba-Lithgow rail service will be an important first step to establishing a 21st century transport infrastructure linking the Blue Mountains with central west NSW. Logically, to ensure regional economic sustainability into the future, the rail link must be extended to Bathurst and Orange.

The most URGENT and pressing need is to UPGRADE FREIGHT RAIL CAPACITY between Orange/Bathurst/Lithgow and Sydney/Newcastle/Port Kembla. The disastrous consequences of failure to do this in the next decade is obvious to all but the most blinkered.

Going to the South Coast, most train times mean a wait on central platform 25 for almost an hour, and the same when returning home – if Blue Mountain trains stopped at Redfern we would have a no-brain, win-win solution to the problem.

I just wanted to quickly thank all the people who have made the time to comment on this article. If you haven’t filled out a form at our office or when I have been surveying people on the street you can either download off the website or you can pick up a form at our office or you can go into the Commonwealth Bank, the Library or the New Ivanhoe Hotel which are all in Blackheath.
