From those rich and distinct musical heritages of folk and art music, the trio will present a fascinating blend of composers old and new, at the Presbyterian Church in Wentworth Street, Blackheath on Sunday 30th October at 4pm.
Enjoy arrangements of Welsh and Scottish songs by Beethoven and Haydn, string trios by Irish composers Ernest Moeran and Swan Hennessy and our own Margaret Sutherland. A special feature will be the Australian premiere of a recent work by Edinburgh based Julian Wagstaff and as usual a familiar encore will delight.
From the plaintive and heartfelt, to the toe-tapping and stirring, Celtic Connections will appeal to your inner Celt! Feel free to wear green, tartan or byo leek. The musicians, Rachel Westwood, violin, Valmai Coggins, viola and Deborah Coogan, cello, look forward to sharing the experience. Sláinte!
