Get Online Week

The week of 18-24 October is Get Online Week. Around 40% of Australians are not confident using computers, the internet and smartphones. That can be a massive disadvantage, not only in making social connections, but also dealing with important Government services and keeping safe in emergency situations. If you are one of the 40%, or if you know someone who is, you can make an appointment for free lessons with our Cyber_Shed tutor Simon Hare.

To coincide with this important week, Simon has produced a simple step-by-step video guide to loading the Fires Near Me app onto your smartphone. This vital safety tool gives you live information on the bushfire situation in your neighbourhood – where the epicentre is, where the safe exit points are and when leaving is not possible. In a bushfire emergency it is a potential life-saver.

Simon will also be doing live tutorials soon, and we’ll let you know where and when.
