Exciting news! BANC has obtained funding for a Creative, Community, Wellbeing and Resilience Hub. Activities are on until mid-2023 in Blackheath and surrounds. Current Hub events are listed below. Note that current health regulations will apply to all. These projects are implemented through joint Commonwealth/ State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements via the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund.

Fridays at 125

Fridays at 125
Join your community for a relaxed and enjoyable evening of music, games, and free wood-fired pizza. A great way to make new friends and wind down from the week. All ages and all abilities are welcome. Come solo or bring the family. Thanks to Vinnies for the financial support allowing us to hold this event.

Blue Shorts Film Festival

Now in its 6th fabulous year, this event is open to all ages and all levels of experience. Even if this is your first ever go at making a video, we’d love to see it and show it on the big screen. Keep an eye out on this page for workshops that might help you get there. A big thanks to Mt Vic Flicks, which will be hosting the festival in November.

Shared Reading Group

Sharing stories is one of humanity’s oldest and most profound traditions. This group is a great way to experience great stories and meaningful conversations.

At the Shared Reading Group you can choose to read a story aloud, join the discussion or just sit in silence, listen and enjoy a cup of tea. No pressure!

The group begins on July 28th 2022 and will run for nine weeks.

Are You Ready ?

The Blue Mountains is one of the world’s most fire-prone areas. To help ensure everyone is well-prepared, BANC and the RFS are offering free community engagement seminars for all Upper Mountains residents. Buzzing bees 2

Buzzing Bees play-workshop

A playful, interactive workshop utilising games,
nature exploration, original songs and art-making
to foster curiosity and learn about the diversity
and ecological needs of bees and other insects.
For youngsters 0 to 5 years and their caregivers.
Facilitator Amelie Ecology is an ecologist, educator,
and musician based in Blackheath who loves to connect
young people with local ecology.

Join Darug woman Jacinta Tobin for a workshop that gives honour to song with its power and potential. This is not song for song’s sake, this is song for Country’s sake. The aim is to assist in bring a better understanding of Country and connection, how is this related to music and where to from here together. You will have the opportunity to participate in Darug song.

Go with the Flow art therapy group

Come and connect with others through creativity. Creativity can assist with managing depression, anxiety, and other related issues. No artistic skills required. Note that this is not a drop-in group and bookings are essential

This festival of short films by local residents will be back in full force in November 2022. When Covid restrictions allow, we’ll be re-screening our fantastic 2020 entrants to get you in the creative mood. Keep an eye on this page for details.
