Volunteers are at the heart of our organisation, and we value the crucial role they play.
Whatever your skills, there are opportunities for you to contribute.
Volunteering at BANC is unique as it enables you to only commit to a task if you are available at that time. Our volunteer requests are distributed when needed and you only say yes if you’re available! There are no obligations and no pressure. Even if you only say yes to helping out once a year, it all adds up.
Opportunities for volunteering at BANC include:
- Fundraising, research and centre promotion
- Tutoring seniors and other computer novices at Cyber_Shed
- Cliff View Community Farm – gardening that goes towards providing fresh food to people in need
- Helping at our monthly community dinner ‘Fridays at 125’
- Blackheath Cares – assisting vulnerable members of the local community with general duties
- Working with our community development worker on community events
- Become a HUFF facilitator (training provided)
- Occasionally driving the BOOSH Bus for excursions during vacation care
How does it work?
Step 1.
A request for help comes through from one of our community members or services to our coordinator.
Step 2.
The coordinator sends the request via mass text to all the volunteer’s mobile numbers.
Step 3.
Volunteers only reply to the texted request if they are able help. Otherwise they just go about their day. It’s that easy.
